  5. What will you need to learn about your Explorer? • Biographical Information - like when and where he was born, what his family was like, interesting things he did as a young lad, etc. • The reason for his voyage - Fame? Fortune? Adventure? • The key details of his voyage(s) - what exactly happened, anyway?

  6. Report details: Research Phase Once you have chosen an explorer to research, your first task is to gather all that information. But Where From? Our school library Encyclopedias Videos The public library The internet

  7. How much research? You must have research from a minimum of three sources: A book The internet One source of your choosing

  8. How will you record your research? You will receive Research Note Taking Sheets to record information from your sources. They look like this.

TRUST ME…you’ll be happy you did. Keep each research note taking sheet to write your report and bibliography. You’ll need to turn in your research note taking sheets with your final report.

  10. Writing the Report • Once you have finished your research note taking sheets, you are ready to start. • You’ll use a “Explorer Hidden Text Document” to get started at school. • Tip: A pin drive would come in really handy for this project.

  11. Other Report Pieces • A cover sheet that we will make in class • A bibliography that we will make in class • A hand-drawn map showing your explorer’s voyages(s) that you will make at home
