  • A dictionary shows what the word means and how to use them in a sentence and what kind of speech it is.

  • Use guide words


  • A Thesaurus shows all kinds of synonyms for a word and shows contrasting words and also show antonyms.


An atlas shows different maps of a state


  • An almanac shows the weather forecast, the astronomical information, and tide tables of the year.


  • A periodical is a magazine published at a regular intervals of more than one day or a relating to a public issued at such intervals.


  • A big reference work with all subjects.

Online Resources

  • References found on the Internet.


  • A Bibliography is a list of writing related to a given subject or a list of writings used or considered by an author in preparing a particular work.

Choose Topic

  • Decide what your research would be about.

Form Questions

  • Make a list of questions you would ask.

Identify Keywords

  • Choosing words for your topic.

Select Sources

  • Decide where you would find your information.


  • Skimming is to read or glance through a book quickly or superficially.


  • Paraphrase is to look at the author’s words and put it in your own words.

Note Taking

  • Note taking is to read your resources and make notes.


  • Organizing means to put your work in order.


  • Presenting means to show others people your finished work.
