  2. Problem • How can you prevent an egg in a container from cracking when dropped from 16 feet ?

  3. Hypothesis • I think cotton balls will protect the egg.

  4. Information • The egg will gather an amount of potential energy when it is let go from a height of 16 feet. Most of the energy that is produced becomes kinetic energy as it falls. Some of the potential energy becomes thermal energy because of the friction in the air.

  5. Materials • 1 container • 1 bath towel • Cotton balls • 2 eggs

  6. Conclusion • When the egg was dropped from 16 feet, the bath towel did protect the egg from cracking. However, the cotton balls did not. Therefore, my hypothesis was incorrect.
