  • A Mission Statement - More specific

  • A justification on why the students should be there

  • A justification on why parents should trust you with the education of their child

  • A justification to other faculty and administrators

  • Find a mission statement online


The attendance policy

The Attendance Policy

  • This sets your guidelines and the students guidelines

  • Express why rehearsal and performance attendance is important

  • What is excused/unexcused?

  • What are the clear consequences?

  • Make sure you can live with it…

  • Alternates? Reserves? Why?

  • Above all - BE CONSISTENT!!

  • Discuss - Who are the successful band directors? What makes them great? Are there common traits?

  • DO THE THINGS THAT SCARE YOU!

  • A System for Everything - Create for yourself a system for success!
