The experience of God: An Invitation to Do Theology. New York: Paulist Press, 2003. • This source includes information on how we experience God through everyday life. Religious experience is a human experience that helps us to think about the deeper meaning of life and that which is greater than oneself: God. Revelation (Scripture, experience, and tradition) is God’s invitation to a relationship with us.

  3. Research • DO NOT USE: • Wikipedia • New advent.org • Do Use: • Google scholar, .edu and .org cites • Official websites of the congregation you visited • USCCB.org • Personal interviews

  4. Things to remember • Website citations should include the entire URL • No: usccb.org • Yes: http://old.usccb.org/seia/sb-rc-environment.pdf (no underline) • Format, font, color should be uniform • Research should be focused on Eucharist and communion.

  5. Research Paper Topic • Eucharist as understood in Catholic Church • Include how this is expressed tangibly from your experience of Mass • Eucharist as understood in Christian denomination you chose • Include how this is expressed tangibly as well as the theological understanding • Compare and contrast using your observations AND research

  6. In addition to bread & wine… Communion as expressed in… • The architecture of the church • The ritual actions performed • The prayer postures used • The objects used (bread, wine, other, plates, cups, etc.) • The passages of Scripture chosen • The artwork in the Church • The role and function of the leader/presider • Other tangible aspects you observed which conveyed a deeper meaning

  8. Research Paper • Grammar, style, organization, and spelling all count. Its not just what you say, but also how you say it! • Conclusion - summarize evidence and share what you have learned personally. • Rough draft due Monday, May 12 - print copy • Final draft to turnitin.com • Four-Five pages, double space, 12-point Times New Roman Font • Works Cited Page (does not count in page total) - all sources should be cited in the body of the work
