Concussion Statistics • 11,477 annual sports related TBIs (traumatic brain injury) that require hospitalization • 153 annual TBIs caused by Bowling, which is the lowest of all sports • Half of "second impact syndrome" cases (brain injury caused from an early return to activity after suffering initial injury resulting in a concussion) - result in death. DER4

  3. How Concussions Are Caused • Caused by hit to the head • Head is jolted • Causes brain to not work normally with serious side effects • Sometimes it takes multiple concussions for symptoms to appear

  4. Concussion Symptoms • Headaches • Slurred Speech • Constant Fatigue • Nausea and/or Vomit • Dizziness

  5. Concussion Symptoms Continued • Feeling Slowed Down • Trouble Remembering Simple Things • Mood Swings • Notify a doctor if any of these symptoms are noticed.
