  2. Introduction • Mia’s college coach Dorrance had tears in his eyes when Mia walked off the field for her last time in a Tar Heels uniform. “There will never be a player who breaks Mia Hamm’s records.” He said with tear in his eyes. “Never!”

  3. Soccer Players Birth • Mia’s real name is Mariel Margaret Hamm. Mia was born on March 17,1972 in Selma, Alabama. Her dad works for the Military and her mom doesn’t work. She has 3 older sisters and 2 older brother.

  4. Awesome Brother Garrett • When USA won the Gold Medal. Garrett told Mia “ I’m so proud of you!” That meant more than the Gold Medal to Mia. Garrett died from bone morrow disease in 1997.

  5. Mia Growing Up • Her best friends were Tisha Venturini. She played baseball, basketball, football and soccer with Garrett and other boys.

  6. Awards In High School • Mia was named Texas All-Star when she was 13 years old. She was named All- American in high school. She was already playing for the national team in high school.

  7. Helps The Tar Heels • Mia was name USA female athlete of the year. She received the Honda Broderick Cup as the most out standing female athlete. Mia retired her uniform number 19 in 1994.

  8. Here Comes The Bride • In December 17,1994 she married Christian Corey. Christian works for the Military. Christian went to basic training and completed it. Then he went to flight school.

  9. Breaking The Record • Mia sprained her ankle battling against the other team’s goalie but she scored. She broke all time international scoring record for men and women with her 108th goal on May 16,1999.

  10. Her Life Now • She lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Mia’s hobbies are golf, cooking, and watching college basketball. Mia is now playing for the Washington Freedom.

  11. Conclusion • Maybe someday someone will break her record but no one try and work as hard as Mia Hamm.
