  2. Go For the Gold HGTC has evaluated the number of gold level certificates and number of non-certificate attainers for each county. To increase certificate level attainment, each person planning to take the Work Ready Assessment was encouraged to sign up and participate in the Skills Gap training exercises before taking the assessment. High school seniors in HGTC Region took the assessment again this year. Seniors were given a PIN number, entered into Skills Gap Training by HGTC, and offered “How To” lessons on Skills Gap Training. Region funds have been used to provide Skills Gap Training for all individuals taking Work Ready. Each person registering, is offered access prior to assessing, and all individuals are offered after completion. All Adult Education instructors at HGTC are WIN managers and utilize the software in their classrooms. The GED Scholarship has been reinstated for any GED student who earns a Gold WR Certificate (the cost of their GED will be paid with Region funds dedicated to the scholarship). Non-Attainers will be contacted by our assessment personnel or their school counselor and encouraged to take advantage of the free online skills gap training .

  3. Go for the Gold Percentage arrived from dividing total number of GOLD certificates earned by the total individuals assessed. Non-attained percentage determined by dividing attempted and not earned by total assesses.

  6. Talent Management The Heart of Georgia Advanced Manufacturing Work Ready Region has identified jobs critical to the ongoing growth of industry. We have developed, and continues to develop job-specific curriculum tailored to company needs. Some examples are Alcoa Architectural Products, Graphic Packaging, Mage Solar and SP Newsprint who have now partnered with HGTC to develop curriculum (credit and non-credit) that will enable employees to advance within the company and program graduates to be effective employees more rapidly.

  7. Career Pathways We have made progress in the sector of Career Pathway development. Our Application (HGTC, Dublin City, Laurens County, Dodge County, Wheeler County), for a Regional Career Academy was awarded a grant through TCSG (Technical College System of Georgia). School will open August 2011. It is only the 2nd Regional Academy in the State. The Academy was formed from the work of the Heart of Georgia Work Ready Region. Without the Region this would not have been possible.

  8. Industry Networks The Heart of Georgia WRR is actively participating in the GWRRIN. To date, our course offerings and companies participating have been confirmed and we are conducting courses now. Classes began late September and are scheduled through late February.
