  2. Eating a apple • The food goes in the mouth; it is chewed into little pieces by the teeth and mixed with saliva (spit) A apple a day keeps the doctor away by eating a apple will keep the doctor away and keep your teeth nice a fresh to eat and crunch away for the next day.

  3. Swallowing • The food is swallowed. It travels down the food pipe to the stomach.

  4. stomach • In the stomach the food is mixed with lots of digestive juices. This breaks the food down into tiny little pieces that can be taken into the body.

  5. Small intestine • The tiny pieces of food pass into the small intestine. • Here all the good bits (healthy sugars, nutrients, minerals, some fats) are taken into the body. The small intestine also known as the small bowel.

  6. Large intestine • The waste products and water pass into the large intestine , here all the water needed is taken the body.

  7. Waste What bits are left after the large intestine are waste products. This leaves the body when we go to the toilet.
