  2. Standard 3 Art Subject Matter I can recognize the characteristics of various subject matter 3.1 Representational: I can recognize the characteristics of representational art.

  3. Representational • Art in which it is the artist's intention to present again or represent a particular subject; especially pertaining to realistic portrayal of subject matter • Three types: Landscape, Portrait and Still Life.

  4. Standard 3.1 Representational 3.1A Landscape: I can recognize the characteristics of a landscape. 3.1B Portrait: I can recognize the characteristics of a portrait. 3.1C Still Life: I can recognize the characteristics of a still life.

  5. Landscape • the subject matter category in which the main theme of the work is natural scenery such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, and lakes.

  14. Standard 3 Art Subject Matter 3.2 Non-Representational: I can recognize the characteristics of Non-Representational art. 3.3 Non-Objective: I can recognize the characteristics of Non- Objective art.

  15. Nonrepresentational • Art without reference to anything outside itself-without representation • Two types: Non-Objective and Abstract.

  16. Non-objective • artwork that contains no recognizable objects or forms
