Verification Activities at Northeast RFC

This workshop, held on 08/14/2007 at Salt Lake City RFC, aimed to identify areas of improvement in the modeling process, provide more detailed information than national requirements, and offer immediate feedback to forecasters. It also focused on the enhancement of RVF Verification, QPF Verification, and the development of new plans to assess regional bias.

  3. RVF Verification Enhancements • Local application runs off of IVP pairs file • Add POD, FAR statistics • Discriminate by lead time, basis time, and flood conditions • Sample output

  4. QPF Verification Enhancements • Graphic of QPF, observed, difference, and ratio • Graphic of RFC, HPC, and NDFD (almost) and observed

  5. QPF Plans • Sum fields over longer period to assess regional bias • Accumulate over MAP areas
