Remote Control of LSV2 Battery Bank Chargers 2010 • Problem: • Client desires remote charging for the battery propulsion of an experimental research submarine from the monitor’s work station. • Project Goal: • Create a simple GUI to convert the SCPI commands programmed into ICS 4861 board into an easily used program • GUI must communicate with the chargers using the RS 232 ports on the ICS 4861 board currently installed within the chargers • The ICS 4861 boards will connect to the PC using a MOXA CP-118EL serial board GUI in Advanced Mode GUI in Simple Mode The Simple Mode enables the quickly set all chargers at once and monitor all chargers ICS 4861 Analog to Digital Board Battery Charger Cabinet • RS 232 Serial Port The Advanced Mode enables the user to monitor and alter the settings for each of the individual chargers Desktop Computer • The ICS board then connects to the charger cabinet and controls the functions of the charger cabinet to perform the charge MOXA Serial Interface Card • The Desktop contains and 8 port PCI express MOXA card used to connect to the 8 changers The MOXA card connects to the ICS 4861 board through 50 ft serial cables Left to Right: Branden Carpenter, M.
