  2. Why Azerbaijan? • As one of the fast growing economy of the world, GDP of Azerbaijan is increased 7 times within last 8 years. Today, GDP of Azerbaijan is equal to 74% of total GDP in South Caucasus (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia) • In 2003-2011, the poverty rate reduced from 45% up to 7% • Country ratings: • Long term credit rating: ‘BBB –’ (investment grade) • Short-term credit rating: ‘F3’ • UNDP Human Development Report (2010) – 69th • WEF Global Competitiveness Report 2011- 2012: 55th in the world and 1st among CIS • The attractive tax system: • Corporate tax: 20% • Income tax: 14-30% (progressive taxing) • VAT: 18% • Custom regime: Duties are imposed to goods imported to Azerbaijan in the range of 0-15% • State registration: As per “single window” system, state registration is carried out within 3 working days • Legislation: Sound legal framework (Laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan on "Investment activity" and on "Protection of foreign investments”)
