  1. Inspiration Well A Castle in the Sand (S.L. Kea) 10/29/12 ‘And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.’ Luke 6:46-49 (KJV) Have you ever built a sand castle on the beach? Have you ever built one that ended up being too close to the water and it was washed away? You spend time filling up buckets with sand and packing the sand into the bucket tightly so that when you turned it over the sand came out in the shape of your bucket. As we continue in our walk, we have to be mindful of where we ‘build’. Excuse me, where we build? Yes, either we are building in God’s kingdom or the Devil’s kingdom. SLK 102912

  2. Jesus is teaching and He asks why do we call Him Lord when we don’t do the things He said to do. We proceed to build our castle in the sand knowing that it will be washed away. Pastor shared an awesome, thought provoking message last week on ways to build a castle in the sand. (Thanks, Pastor Curtis!) I will share some of the points from the message with you here. So, how do we know if we are building in the sand? So glad you asked! When we choose to love only those who love us.When we do good to those who do good to us.When we lend to those from whom we hope to be repaid. When we seek comfort in material possessions. When we judge others. When we don’t take responsibility for our actions. When we live for the moment. Now some of you may flash back to a time when this described you and you’re saying ‘Oh, but God!’. Some of you are reading this and saying ‘What??! What do you mean I can’t love those who love me, do good to those who are good to me, tell people the truth (really judging others)? Yes my friend, you are building your castle in the sand. We have got to get you back to building your castle on a (the) rock!

  3. How do we build our castle on a rock? Well let’s see what the Word says. Luke 6:35-37 says, ‘But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:’ Easier said than done? God knows that we cannot in our own strength do any of these things. Jesus came, died, and rose so that each one of us has the gift of eternal life. Of course it’s easy to build in the sand and take the easy road but that will only lead to destruction and ruin. Choose to build your castle with a foundation on a rock (Jesus Christ) so that when the storms of life bear down on us we can be confident that our house won’t be shaken! PrayerDear Lord, thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for your promises and your Word. Help me Lord recognize when I am making choices that build on the sand instead of a rock. Lord help me to do what You have said for me to do. Strengthen me Lord where You know I am weak. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
