  2. Geography China is the fourth largest country in the world in terms of landmass. It currently has the highest population with over 3 billion people. Southeast Asia has very good land for farming. More than 90% of the world’s rice comes from Asia . The Huang and Chang are the two most important rivers. It has the tallest Mountain in the world: Mount Everest

  12. Economics Trade along the Grand Canal was a key mode of trade and growth for China. It was originally constructed in 5 BCE, but the Sui dynasty made the major connections.

  13. Social Structure Merchants were high on the social structure as they were able to trade goods and bring wealth to China. Like in most Medieval societies the farmers and “peasants” made up most of the Population. Once the Song Dynasty popularized the use of scholar-officials they became highly regarded.
