  3. Municipality of Loures – Brief characterization Created on 26 July 1886, the municipality of Loures belongs to the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and is located on the right bank of the Tejoriver. Covering an area of 168 square kilometers and about 205 000 inhabitants. At the present Loures municipality have 2 400 workers. The Loures municipality budget for 2011 was 130 000 000 €. The municipality of Loures is a territory rich in contrasts, where coexist different lifestyles and landscapes, a harmonious combination between the rural and the urban environment.
