  1. American Lit today • Black History Month Writing Contest • Share prediction projects in small groups and then with class • Begin developing feminist lens on TBE • HW: • For tomorrow: Research topic, phrased as a statement and a question • For Monday, read TBE through page 58

  2. Please meet with a group of 4-5 and share your prediction project. Discuss how each prediction did or did not relate to what you read for today.

  3. Choose one group member’s project to share with the class. Also share your discussion about its relationship to the text so far.

  4. Critical Theory • Feminist Theory • Marxist Theory • Critical Race Theory ALL question how society forces people into categories ALL confront the injustice/inequality that results from these categories.

  5. Gender. Can we identify the categories that society has created for gender?How does society enforce gender categories?How are these categories linked to power?

  6. “Becoming” a woman in TBE • Menstruating • But also learning what it “means” (according to society) to be a woman, and fitting into that. (pg. 20)

  7. Homework, again • For tomorrow: Research topic • For Monday: Read through page 58
