A website that brings together digital maps from various sources to create a valley-wide, "one-stop-shop" of mapping information for the North Thompson River watershed. The atlas is in its early development stage and can be accessed at www.cmnbc.ca.

What is the North Thompson Sustainable Watershed Atlas? • It is a website that allows digital maps from many sources to be brought together as a valley wide, “one stop shop” of mapping information • It is online at www.cmnbc.ca • It is in a very early stage of development • The extent of the atlas is the watershed of the North Thompson River north of Kamloops

Who is involved in the North Thompson Atlas project? • A partnership comprising: • The North Thompson Sustainable Watershed Committee, • the North Thompson Communities Foundation, • the North Thompson Food Coalition, • the Community Resource Centre for the North Thompson, • the Community Mapping Network, • the Fraser Basin Council, and • the Kamloops South-Thompson Mapping and Capacity Partnership • New partners are welcome!

Why build a web atlas for the North Thompson? • Local governments, agencies, First Nations and individuals need improved capacity to support decision making for a sustainable community • Web technology, digital information, and good collaborative relationships among potential partners are all in place • It is a “One Stop Shop” for community users to easily access map information from a variety of internet sites • Provides a site for local “made in the North Thompson” map layers to fill information gaps specific to the North Thompson area

Map layers from agencies and non-government organizations Bring map info from multiple agency servers to a common website Data remains with agency, atlas needs only a link on web Locally developed maps Local assets can be mapped using community volunteers Assets include social, environmental, cultural, economic and infrastructure values Two Types of Map Layers
