  2. ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Conformity assessment Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection • ISO/IEC 17020:2012 specifies requirements for the competence of bodies performing inspection and for the impartiality and consistency of their inspection activities.

  3. Inspection • Look at something closely, typically to assess  their condition or to discover any shortcomings

  4. Objectives • To discuss the process of conducting an inspection • To review a number of inspection techniques • To discuss issues you may encounter when performing an inspection

  5. Inspection Timetable • Orientation tour • Fact finding and assessment • Review progress against audit plan • Revised activity • Final review/recommendations • Exit review with management/closing meeting • Report with time frame

  6. Remember that an Inspection…. • Is a systematic approach • Involves interpersonal skills • Identifies deficiencies • Looks at what went wrong • Requires participation from both parties

The Inspection -Good Listening • Stop talking! • Help the speaker to feel free to talk • Be approachable • Show the speaker that you are interested • Remove interference (disturbance) • Try to understand the speaker’s point of view • Be patient • Hold your temper • Try not to criticize • Ask questions • Stop, look and listen

  8. The Inspection– Taking Notes • Detail and facts — trust, but verify • Specifics not generalizations • Record detail as seen • Ensure accuracy • Be open

  9. The Inspection – Making Records • Persons interviewed • Document numbers • Equipment numbers • Item identification • Selection of document recipients • Condition of environment • Changes to facilities, equipment, etc. • Layout of area • Any non-conformities

Industrial Accidents Reported by Form 10 & CFIE-1 to District Factory Inspecting Engineer Fine- Rs: 5000/= & Coupled with sec.111 Fines up to 100,000/= and benefit to victim or dependent(in case of fatal Reportable under section 61 of Factories Ordinance Causes loss of life to a person employed Disables any employed person for more than three days Makes any employed person unconscious as a result of heat exhaustion, electric shock or inhalation of poisonous fumes or gases.

Maintenance - section 20 Provided that this section shall only apply where the examination,lubrication or other operation is carried out by such persons, being male persons who have attained the age of eighteen, as may be specified in regulations made by the Minister, and all such other conditions as may be so specified are complied with. A woman or young person shall not clean any part of a prime mover or of any transmission machinery while the prime mover or transmission machinery is in motion, and shall not clean any part of any machine if the cleaning thereof would expose the woman or young person to risk of injury from any moving part either of that machine or of any adjacent machinery. Section 25

Impair coordination. 12 -14 %Respiration increases. Poor judgment. 10 - 12 %Respiration increases. Lips blue. 8 - 10 %Mental failure. Fainting. Nausea Unconsciousness. Vomiting 6 - 8 % 8 minutes - fatal, 6 minutes - 50% fatal 4-5 minutes - possible recovery. 4 - 6 %Coma in 40 seconds. Death
