  7. Monday afternoon • Starts at lunchtime with Managing inspector- tour of the school. • Meeting with school staff after school. • Inspection ‘with’ rather than ‘to’ • Starting with self evaluation • Feedback/update

  8. 5 Quality indicators • Improvements in performance • Learners’ experiences • The curriculum • Meeting learning needs • Improvement through self evaluation

  9. Tuesday • Presentation/meeting/dialogue • Impact of the school’s approach to self evaluation • Where have we come from? • Where are we now? • Where are we going? • Picture of the school – warts and all/strengths and weaknesses

  10. Rest of Tuesday • Inspectors visit classrooms- focus on literacy and numeracy • Lay member meets various groups • Meeting with staff after school • Feedback/update/planning

  11. Wednesday • Inspection activities continued- observation of teaching • Asking questions and engaging in discussion/feedback to staff and myself • Staff had opportunity to meet with inspection team at lunchtime • Possible finish by end of day Wednesday

  12. Thursday • Continue until Thursday break • Feedback/dialogue session – Thursday afternoon. • Friday feedback to staff

The report • A5 booklet • Particular strengths • How well do children learn and achieve? • How well do staff work with others to support children’s learning? • Are staff and children actively involved in improving the school community? • Does the school have high expectations of all children? • Does the school have a clear sense of direction?
