  2. Overview Today Just below normal for the high temperatures today. Low to mid 60s across the area. Tonight Low temperatures will run around 10 degrees below normal tonight. Areas north of I-20 will see temperatures at or below freezing…and frost will be present in most areas region-wide. Extended The next chance of precipitation…which is not very good…will be on Monday.   4. Today Highs Today • High temperatures around 60 in the north. • High temperatures in the mid 60s to the south. • Northwest winds 10 to 15 MPH. • Sunny skies… L

  5. Tonight • Low temperatures at or below freezing…roughly I-20 and northward. • Low temperatures in the mid 30s for points south. • Frost for most points across the area. • Winds near calm. • Clear skies… • Climatic last freeze is around March 15. Lows Tonight L

  7. Extended GFS Model • Next chance of precipitation late Sunday night into Monday. • Not much moisture to work with…rainfall amounts will be limited…and chances of rainfall may even be on the low side.

  8. DROUGHT SITUATION • Below normal rainfall in February has resulted in a continuation of the severe and extreme drought conditions across the region. Since the drought began about a year ago…most locations have received only 50 -70 percent of annual rainfall. • Above normal temperatures in the latter portion of the month…particularly several days that were both windy and warm days…with temperatures in the 70s…and winds gusting over 30 mph…aggravating drought conditions. • Pleasure point water system in Angelina county experiencing a limited water rationing until further notice. • No burn bans in effect…however fire danger high in much of northern Louisiana…and low to moderate across most of TX/OK/AR portions of CWA. • Climate prediction center has predicted a spring outlook of near normal precipitation…and above normal temperatures…based largely on La Nina pattern. A progressive weather pattern seen for at least next couple of weeks…indicating no heavy rainfall events.

Tornado Survey • Roughly two dozens homes and businesses damaged. • Tornado rated a low end EF1 with winds of 80 – 90 MPH. • Tornado was on the ground for 11 miles and approximately 20 minutes, with a forward speed of around 30 mph… reaching a maximum width of 225 yards.
