  1. Value of the Old Testament for Christians Today • It was given only to the physical nation of Israel (Deut. 5:1-3). • It was temporary (Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 8:6-13). • It was ended at the death of Jesus (Eph. 2:11-18).

  2. Value of the Old Testament for Christians Today • It points to Jesus (Lk. 24:25-27, 44-47; Jn. 5:39, 46-47). • It reveals to us the nature of God (cf. Ex. 34:5-7). • It provides a proper view of history and nature (cf. Gen. 1:1; Dan. 4:25). • It shows the unfolding purpose of God • (cf. 1 Pet. 1:10-12).
