  2. April 14th 1865: John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln. During the show of Our American Cousin at Ford's Theatre (pg. 38) • April 3rd 1865: "The confederate capital Richmond, fell to the union" (pg.9) • April 13th 1865: "All of Washington had celebrated with a grand illumination of the city" (pg.10) • April 14th 1865: The manhunt begins. John Wilkes Booth and Herold are on the run from the cavalry (pg.60) • April 14th 1865: "The confederacy died" ( pg. 9,10) • April 14th 1865: John Wilkes Booth walked nearby the theatre. He heard the news that the Lincolns were attending Our American Cousin (Pg.9-10) • April 14th 1865: Lewis Powell attacked Secretary of State William H. Seward. Rumor spread that Seward was dead (pg. 48) • April 9th 1865: At the Appomattox court house, Virginia. General Robert E. Lee and his army of northern Virginia surrendered. (Pg.9) • April 14th 1865: Laura Keene went up to the President's box. She cradled his head in her lap. (pg. 72-73)

  3. April 18th 1865: Jones paid his third visit on Booth and Herold. With every visit he had risked being captured, arrested, or possibly worse. (Pg. 138) • April 14th 1865: Booth and Herold arrive at Samuel Mudd's farm. They stay over night at Mudd's farm. Mudd makes crutches for Booth and his injury. (Pg.80) • April 15th 1865: Abraham Lincoln dies at the Petersen House. He dies in the morning 22 minutes after 7 o'clock. (Pg. 103) • April 17th 1865: Booth and Herold were hiding out in the pine thicket. Thomas Jones was sent to help them by Samuel Mudd. (Pg. 126) • Easter Sunday 1865: Became Black Easter because of Lincoln's death. It was a time of mourning rather than rejoicing in the capital. (Pg. 115) • April 17th 1865: was the most successful day in the 3 day manhunt. They had captured Sam Arnold, Michael O'Laughlen, and Edman Spangler. (Pg. 134) • April 15th 1865: Booth was in danger of being caught but the cavalry. The manhunt had visited Mudd's farm. (Pg. 111) • Night of April 16th 1865: Stanton had no idea of Booths location. Nor was he aware of his destination. (Pg. 125) • April 14th 1865: John Wilkes Booth visits Mary Surratt at her boarding house. They both discuss plans to conspire. (Pg. 134)

  4. April 19th 1865: Was the most solemn day in history of the nation. The day of a President Lincoln's funeral. (Pg. 140) • April 26th 1865: John Wilkes Booth is killed. Corbett shot Booth in the tobacco barn fire after a 12 day manhunt. (Pg.176)
