  1. Chasing Vermeer

  2. The Ratings By: Molly Howard I think “Chasing Vermeer” is a very exciting novel. It has a plot that fits right into the book. When you read the book it feels like you’re right next to Calder and Petra. When they found what painting Petra had dreamed it was so intense! I thought the “The Lady in Writing” was a real person that’s how good Blue Balliett is at describing characters. This is one of my favorite novels ever! I’d rate this book four stars.

  3. By: Roxannah Rhodes I think “Chasing Vermeer “ is an exciting mystery novel because there are so many things to remember, and the code ! I like this novel because there characters with the weird traits Petra likes to read weird but true articles she also likes the book “Lo”! SI think “Chasing Vermeer” is a very exciting novel. I’d rate this book four stars. he accidently picked up old, mean Mrs. Sharpe‘s copy . Calder likes pentominos and, likes to send and receive coded message these characters are very odd but fun in a weird way . Another reason I like this the person who made this book was a genius to leave out the persons name on the letter on the first page .I’d give this novel 3 stars.

  4. By: Ali Murphy I think “Chasing Vermeer” is a very exciting novel.

  5. By: Penny Baltimore I think that this book is worthy of 4 stars. I liked the mystery factor of it, and I like the fact that it really makes you think. If you love mysteries, then this is the book for you. I love the “Lady in Writing”, she really looks wonderful! Not to mention all of the secrets she holds. I think secret codes are fun to figure out. I don’t want to spoil the book, so I'll just say one more thing, CHASING VERMEER IS AWESOME!!!!

  6. By: Will Halkyard I think this book was very intense and brilliantly plotted. Petra and Calder are very good characters and detectives because they look for clues and suspicious things. They also figure out who got the three letters buy watching the news. I really enjoyed reading this book a lot and recommend it to read over the summer. I give this novel four stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. By: Henry Napientek In this novel there is a very set pace, at one point Petra and Calder will be in deep, deep thinking of what to do next then they will notice something abnormal, and then investigate it. This book has several mini climaxes. There are times where Petra and Calder are stumped and coincidences guide them. I enjoyed this book because you don’t know what awaits around every corner. This book deserves three stars. I don’t even like mysteries but I liked this book!

  8. Our Favorite Characters By: Molly Howard Petra is my favorite character with her intelligence. She probably is my favorite because she always has a solution for every mystery. I wish I could be her in that book that would make me way more exciting. I think she can be very mysterious when she finds a new clue. I don’t know how she finds all the clues with just pentinomoes. She is my absolute favorite character of all my books ,ever!

  9. By Roxannah Rhodes My favorite character is Ms. Hussey because she is very interesting in a fun and weird way she’s really intelligent she accidently helped the Vermeer thief without knowing it. I think that Ms. Hussey is very curious because instead of teaching math or science she asks weird questions like what has been the most interesting letter that you have received. Or asking have you ever been tricked into crimes . My favorite character would be Ms. Hussey.

  10. By: Henry Napientek My favorite character is Calder because he trusts his instincts and listens to his friends. I like that he trusts his pentimineos and if he's stumped he follows coincidences. He always has a positive attitude. He also cares for his friends. But of all the reasons he’s my favorite I think it’s because he took the challenge of finding “A Lady Writing.”

  11. Will Halkyard My favorite character Xavier Glitts because he is very suspicious and sneaky and now pretty famous. I also like him because he is a gangster. I did not even know that Tommy's dad was involved in art. He is also sneaky because Tommy didn’t even know that his dad stole it. That is why Xavier is my favorite character. (he is also French).

  12. By: Penny Baltimore I don’t have a favorite character, because none of the characters are particularly exciting. They all play to each others strengths and none of them are in the spot light for long.
