  3. Shema Yisrael Yahweh Elohenu Yahweh Echad Hear O Israel, Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is One

  4. The central creed of Judaism is called the Shema “Hear, O Israel! Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one! You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” • The core of this creed is the statement that Yahweh is one. He is not multiple persons, but a singular individual. This one Yahweh is our God. Simple.

  5. 2 Samuel 7.22 For this reason You are great, O Lord GOD; for there is none like You, and there is no God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

  6. 2 Kings 19.19 Now, O LORD our God, I pray, deliver us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God."

  7. 1 Chronicles 17.20 O LORD, there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

  8. Nehemiah 9.6 You alone are the LORD. You have made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all their host, The earth and all that is on it, The seas and all that is in them. You give life to all of them And the heavenly host bows down before You.

  9. Psalm 86.8-10 8 There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, Nor are there any works like Yours. 9 All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And they shall glorify Your name. 10 For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God.

  10. Psalm 135.5-7 5 For I know that the LORD is great And that our Lord is above all gods. 6 Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps. 7 He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings forth the wind from His treasuries.

  11. Isaiah 37.16, 20 16 "O LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, who is enthroned above the cherubim, You are the God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth…20 "Now, O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, LORD, are God."

  12. Isaiah 44.24 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, "I, the LORD, am the maker of all things, Stretching out the heavens by Myself And spreading out the earth all alone,

  13. Isaiah 45.5-7 5 "I am the LORD, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me; 6 That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun That there is no one besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other, 7 The One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the LORD who does all these.

  14. Isaiah 45.18 For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (He is the God who formed the earth and made it, He established it and did not create it a waste place, but formed it to be inhabited), "I am the LORD, and there is none else.

  15. Isaiah 45.21-22 21 "Declare and set forth your case; Indeed, let them consult together. Who has announced this from of old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, A righteous God and a Savior; There is none except Me. 22 "Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other.

  16. Isaiah 46.9-10 9 "Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, 'My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure';

  17. Jeremiah 10.10-16 10 But the LORD is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth quakes, And the nations cannot endure His indignation. 11 ¶ Thus you shall say to them, "The gods that did not make the heavens and the earth will perish from the earth and from under the heavens." 12 It is He who made the earth by His power,

  18. Jeremiah 10.10-16 Who established the world by His wisdom; And by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens. 13 When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain, And brings out the wind from His storehouses. 14 Every man is stupid,

  19. Jeremiah 10.10-16 devoid of knowledge; Every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols; For his molten images are deceitful, And there is no breath in them. 15 They are worthless, a work of mockery; In the time of their punishment they will perish. 16 The portion of Jacob is not like these; For the Maker of all is He, And Israel is the tribe of His inheritance; The LORD of hosts is His name.

  20. Zechariah 14.9 And the LORD will be king over all the earth; in that day the LORD will be the only one, and His name the only one.

  21. Mark 10.18 And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.

  22. John 17.3 This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

  23. 1 Corinthians 8.4-6 4 Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one. 5 For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords,

  24. 1 Corinthians 8.4-6 6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we exist through Him.

  25. 1 Timothy 2.5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

  26. James 2.19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.

  27. Jude 24-25 24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

  28. Differences between God and Jesus God has always existed (Isaiah 43:13) God’s understanding is infinite (Psalm 147:5) God can do all things(Job 42:2) • God does not pray; he only receives prayer • God does not obey; he makes the rules • God knows everything (Isaiah 46:10)? Jesus had a beginning(Mat. 1:18, Rom. 1:3) Jesus grew in wisdom(Luke 2:52) Jesus could do nothing on his own (John 5:30) • Jesus prayed(Luke 6:12) • Jesus learned obedience(Hebrews 5:8 and 9) • Jesus did not know some things (Mat. 24:36)

  29. Differences between God and Jesus • God never sleeps or slumbers (Psalm 121:4)? • God never grows weary(Isaiah 40:28) • God cannot be tempted by evil” (James 1:13) • God is not human(Num. 23:19; Hos. 11:9) • God cannot die(1 Timothy 1:17; 6:16) • God is above all(Ephesians 4.6) • Jesus slept(Mark 4:38) • Jesus grew weary(John 4:6) • Jesus was tempted by the devil (Matthew 4:1) • Jesus is a human being • (John 9:11) • Jesus died for our sins (Philippians 2:8) • Jesus will be subject to God forever (1Cor. 15:28)
