E-Safety at School What do we do in School? • Filtering Service… Runby the London Grid For Learning • ICT Policy… We never leave the Children alone on a computer that has access to the internet. • E-Safety Week… The Children are taught about the dangers of the internet through a series of lessons and discussions • Fronter A secure and safe online environment for your children to use.

  4. E-Safety in the home What can you do? • Do not let children have unsupervised internet access. e.g. computers in their rooms • Check their internet history • Install filters • Use parental locks and passwords

  5. Social Networking Sites • Facebook • Twitter • Bebo • My Space

  6. Get involved in your children’s internet use. Discussing the opportunities and risks with children involves helping them to see for themselves how they might get into and out of difficulty. • Agree rules as a family about not disclosing personal information – such as your full name, email address, phone number, home address, photos or school name – time spent online, and contacting people via the internet. • Create a family email address for registering online. • Bookmark your family’s favourite websites.

Encourage children to talk to someone they trust if they feel worried or upset by something that happens online. • Make use of available filtering and monitoring software. • Make sure your children know the SMART rules. Childnet’s SMART rules have been written especially for young people to remind them how to be careful online.

  8. It is not just computers….. Access to your children can come through many channels • Smart Phones • iPods • iPads • Games Consoles • Smart TV BE AWARE
