  4. The Carreer Goal First of all, you must take care of your knowledge. You must update it from time to time. To have a career goal, you must spend some serious time thinking about yourself. What you can do, love to do, want to do. This self-analysis step is very important. Don’t search for the answers right know. Feel free to ask questions with an open mind. Feel free to ask yourself questions you never ask before. The main question is « How can I improve my skills, maintain it at the same level or get one. » Think of yourself as a value for the company. What is your ability to create value for an employer.

  5. The Right Attitude Asuccessful job searchis a matter of attitude. A positive attitude is the cause of a successful job search, not the result. Employers are looking for people whobelieve in themselves and in theirskills, whowant to work, whowant to work for them, and whogenerally have a positive attitude. Feel good about yourself. This is the key to a positive attitude. The points thatfollow are ways of helpingyoufeel good about yourself. Talk positively about yourself and yourabilities. Whatyoubelieve about yourselfis the foundation of all your future actions.

Job Searching Techniques The CoverLetter • The cover letter shows the employer why they should consider your resume. • It is the first impression you make on the employer and it shows how well you communicate in writing. • Break the text into short paragraphs, that makes it easier to read. • The cover letter provides the opportunity to highlight how your skills and qualifications will benefit the employer, It provides an individual touch • Never send a resume without a cover letter.

You may have to call the organization to find out who will be reviewing your application.To do this, you don't have to talk directly to the hiring manager. Just tell the receptionist that you require the hiring manager's full name and title as you wish to address the letter correctly.   16. Looking for a Job via Internet The multiservice area of your CLE (centre local d’emploi) is available to help you in your job search efforts. This area of the CLE is the interactive section. It contains computers which you can use to look for a job via the Internet. The computers are equipped with Microsoft Word, the word processing software you can use to prepare your resume and cover letters. The multiservicearea also includes Repères, which provides a host of academic and occupational information, and houses documentation which you can consult.

  17. Looking for a Job via the Internet The CLE multiservice area staff is available to assist you with your job search via the Internet. Before you start searching for a job via the Internet, it is important to think about your occupational options and to establish your objectives. The Internet opens the door to a wide range of possibilities. However, to use it effectively and to remain focused, you need to define the types of jobs that you want and that match your skills. You can consult the LMI Online site at www.emploiquebec.net or Repères, to get informations on trades and occupations.

  23. If, like most people, you don’t have a file (you’ve never met an Emploi Québec’s agent) click in the dot . Then Click on ‘‘continue’’ for the following page.

  24. To continue, you must fill your identification card, beginning by your ID and password. You must find a series of 6 characters or more that you will remember. Write those two in the Emploi Québec’s booklet we gave you. Choose a security question (You can put ‘pastime’ and ‘gardening’).

  25. Fill other spaces. Pass from one to the other by pressing the “tab” key on the keyboard. If you don’t have an e-mail address, ask the teacher one Don’t forget your language knowledge in French and English Click “save” after. You know another language? Write it in the blank space. Click on the save button at the end.

  33. Your candidacy is published. Your have may enter a new application. Look for job offers. Display or modify your file.
