Industry Performance • Industry is highly labour intensive. • Sizable permanent workforce to carry out much of the heavy physical labour. • Employment 48,000 people in approximately 24,000 establishments. • There are approximately 78,000 qualified plumbers in Australia, many of whom are employed in other industries, industry other construction, electricity, gas, water, water services and mining. • The smallest type of accounting unit within an Enterprise, usually consists of one or more locations in state or territory of the country in which it operates. • A division that is separately managed and keeps management accounts. Blended / Part time / SBA VET in Schools Apprenticeship Training Options • Howard Government initiative – Cert III – School Based Apprentices • Rudd Government Trade Schools – Cert II VET in school outcomes, institutional • delivery • - SBA’s failing due to lack of promotion as an alternative concept. • - VET in Schools demand institutional delivery only.

  15. Apprenticeship Training Options • Workplace learning Cadetship Model- On the job training. • - Study for qualification in cadets own time at RTO. • No contribution to training costs by employer. • - Completion of Cadetship subject to students initiative.

Apprenticeship Training OptionsCommercial Delivery of Qualification • No subsidy from government (no HECS) • No training contract (non apprenticeship model) • Student meets all costs of training • No employer involvement • Once qualification is obtained, registration as tradesperson follows COAG 2006 decision on no requirement for further sign off.
