Romans 5:8-11 Reasons to Rejoice Rom 5:8 (NKJ) But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

  2. Why worship God? Reasons to Rejoice • Why take this seriously? • Why change your schedule? • Why give of your income? • Why depend so much on a religious book? • Why be around “narrow-minded” people? • Why routinely talk to Him as Father and friend?

  3. Why worship God? Reasons to Rejoice • Why get excited about Him? • Why so vocal about Him? • Why act out your excitement toward Him? • Why get creative about Him?

  4. Why worship God? Because we were SO lost! Reasons to Rejoice • Hopelessly lost • Our heritage—Who we were • Our actions—What we’ve done • Our attitude—What we think • Our doomed future—We’re doomed to fail again • Our destiny—Hell awaited us. • We couldn’t correct our course

  5. Why worship God? Because we were SO rescued! Reasons to Rejoice • We didn’t deserve it: “While we were yet sinners” • Complete restoration • Complete forgiveness: “Having now been justified” • Complete freedom: To do the right thing—I never could before • Complete life: Now and forever—He restored my SOUL!

  6. SO… REJOICE (= Gr. “to boast”) Reasons to Rejoice • Hallelujah = Hebrew “halal” + “yah” • Halal: praise, commend, boast, to shine, to shout, (also to act foolishly, mad) • Yah: short for “Yahweh”, the Lord

  7. SO… REJOICE (= Gr. “to boast”) Reasons to Rejoice • Psalm 148:1 (NKJ) Praise the Lord! (“halal yah”) Praise the Lord (“halal yahweh”) from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights! • 11 Kings of the earth and all peoples; Princes and all judges of the earth; 12 Both young men and maidens; Old men and children. 13 Let them praise the name of the Lord, For His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven.

  8. SO… REJOICE (= Gr. “to boast”) Reasons to Rejoice • Ps 149:1 (NKJ) Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints.
