  4. The Story We’ve got a catering business to run and use Dynamics CRM 2011 as our traditional CRM solution as well as our custom solution to manage our catering events. CRM reports help us view our customers but also help us plan our events.

  5. Reports 101 • Reports vs Views • Don’t use reports for simple data lists • Do use reports for complex, aggregate or specially formatted data • Do use reports for easy export to other formats • Do give end users access to basic reporting tools

  6. Reports 101 #1 Rule of CRM Reports: CRM reports are only ever as useful and accurate as the data we feed into CRM

  7. Demo time

  8. Report Wizard • Dynamics CRM Report Wizard makes YOU the wizard • Report on all entities, system or custom • From scratch or copy • Grids or graphs or both

  9. Report Wizard • Gives end users simple and powerful way to create report • Format, colors of report are fixed • Good way to start/model reports

  11. FetchXML New for CRM 2011 • Introduced to give CRM Online users full access to custom reporting capabilities as on-premises deployments • Uses FetchXML query as data source in SQL Reporting Services • Available in both Online and On Prem deployments • SQL query based reports still available in On Prem deployments

  12. FetchXML Requirements • Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 • Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) 2008. Recommend BIDS 2008 R2 • CRM 2011 Report Authoring Extensions http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=64a09b75-8376-4b9d-aea3-8a83a1837c4d • CRM 2011 SDK

  14. FetchXMLvs SQL • Both SQL and Fetch XML use SRS 2008 • Fetch reports easier to train non-developers • Fetch reports simplify date filters • Fetch query built with advanced find • SQL better for joining unrelated entities • Can be done in Fetch reports with SRS 2008 R2 Lookup Functions • SQL better for very large data sets • Scribe Online Replication Services
