Meeting Organisation Team • PARIS21 Secretariat • Consortium Scientific Committee • 14 members representing various constituencies and regions, chaired by Richard Manning, have met twice via videoconference. • Local Organising Committee • Representatives of all major ministries involved in the organisation of the event and technical and financial partners in Dakar, chaired by the Director General of the Statistical Agency of Senegal, meet on a monthly basis.

Comité local d’organisation • Création sera entérinée par un Arrêté signé par le Ministre d’Etat, Ministre de l’Economie et des Finances; • Est composé de représentants (a) des principaux ministères impliqués dans l’organisation de la réunion (Affaires étrangères, intérieur, tourisme, santé), (b) des forces de l’ordre et des pompiers, (c) de la Mairie de Dakar et (d) des partenaires techniques et financiers; • Co-présidé par le Directeur général de l’ANSD et le Directeur de l’administration générale et de l’équipement du MEF; • Se réunit sur une base mensuelle (premières réunions tenues le 22 avril et 27 mai, prochaine réunion prévue le 24 juin).

  9. Dakar Declaration on the Development of Statistics DDDS Preambule Values and Principles Call to Action The Way Forward Reaffirms the spirit of MAPS, UN Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics, Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness, Accra Agenda for Action.

  10. DDDS – Call to Action by 2014 Implement NSDSs with assistance in line with the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. Place global statistical programmes on a sustainable financial and technical footing. Co-ordinate more effectively at all levels, establish national forums for statistics. Ensure statistical systems in all countries become more efficient and effective, more open and accountable, statistics are independent and objective and better able to meet the needs of users. Establish a programme of research and development to generate appropriate statistical tools and technologies.

Process for Supporting DDDS • Before Dakar • Approval from Steering Committee • Discuss with key partners • Identify champions and “missionaries” for the declaration • During Dakar • Focus discussion in the three sessions on the implications of DDDS for the constituencies • Declaration agreed by acclamation • After Dakar • Present to other processes and meetings (UNSC, DAC High-Level Meeting, WB/IMF Spring meeting, MAPS Advisory Board) • Translate into several languages
