Weekly Meeting Agenda Chi Epsilon Meetings are planned for Thursdays at 7pm Week 1: Information Session #1 – Thursday, January 10, 2013 MDEA Week 2: Information Session #2 – Thursday, January 17, 2013 MDEA -Zotzone social immediately following meeting Week 3: Game Night – Thursday, January 24, 2013 - MANDATORY MDEA -Divide initiates into Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition groups -First payment installment due Week 4: Research Lab Tours with Professors and TAs – Thursday, January 31, 2013 -Locations TBD – depending on the Tours that will be held -Possibilities: ITS Lab (Professor Jayakrishnan), EPL Lab (Professor Rosso), Structures Lab (Professor Zareian), Soils Lab (Professor Lemnitzer) Week 5: Resume and Cover Letter Workshop – Thursday, February 7, 2013 MDEA -Speaker: Rudy Santacruz from the Center for Educational Partnerships and SAGE at UCI

Weekly Meeting Agenda Week 6: Open/Break – Thursday, February 14, 2013 – NO MEETING Week 7: Reading Plans and Schematics Workshop– Thursday, February 21, 2013 MDEA -Speaker: Andrew Easterling from URS, Transportation & Traffic Engineering -Joint event with ASCE and AAEES Week 8: Grad School Panel/Mixer – Thursday, February 28, 2013 - MANDATORY Colloquia Room -Final payment installment due Week 9: Speechcraft Interviewing Skills OR Public Speaking Presentation - Thursday, March 7, 2013 MDEA Week 10: Study Night – Thursday, March 14, 2013 MDEA -Coffee and Snacks provided Initiation & Banquet (Spring Week 3) – Saturday, April 20, 2013 -Initiation will be held on campus, time TBD -Banquet will be held at BJs Restaurant at The Market Place in Tustin immediately following initiation

  7. Character (4) • Service to your community • Shadetree • Sat., January 28th, Sat., February 25th, and Sat., March 23rd,8:30 – 12 pm • Beach Clean-up • Saturday, March 2nd 3-5:30pm (Bonfire after for social) • E-Week BBQ • Week 7

  8. Practicality (4) • Professional Development • Attend various tours • YMF, OCSD, OCWD, City of Newport • CEE Quarterly Meeting - TBA • Apply for the Spring 2013 FE/EIT

  9. Scholarship (4) • Academic Development • Become a member of any professional Civil Engineering Organization (ASCE, SAME, ITE, EWB, AWWA, ACI, AISC, AAEES, etc.). (Only 1 will count.) • Talk to a professor or TA • On-campus Civil Engineering Seminars / Guest-speaker events about research or scholarships • Attend a FE Review Session (tentative, normally held during Week 1 & Week 2 of Spring)

  10. Sociability (4) • Networking • Pool night at Zotzone - Thursday, January 17th, 2013: 8 – 10pm • Hiking - January 21st, 2013: 9:30am - 11:00am • Movie Night – February 19th, 2013 • Bonfire (Potluck) – March 2nd, 2013: 6pm - 10pm, Corona del Mar Beach • Battle of the ESOs (TBA)

  11. Meetings (5) • Attend meetings every Thursday at 7pm • Mandatory Meetings: • Week 3 (Jan 24th) • Week 8 (Feb 28th)

  12. Officer Luncheon • Meet up with one of the UCI XE officers • Available times are on our website • Start early!

  13. Resume, Cover Letter • Turn in a resume and cover letter by initiation: April 20, 2013 • Resume & Cover Letter Workshop • Meeting: Week 5 Thursday, February 21, 2013

  14. Team Project • Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition • Will be due during E-Week (Week 7) • Teams will be formed at the Mandatory Week 3 meeting

  15. Fundraising (3 Hours) • Need you to help us raise money • Selling Boba on Ring Road throughout quarter – Dates: Wednesdays 10am-3pm Week 3, Week 5, and Week 7.

  16. Initiation Fee • 95 dollars • Pay using installments: • Week 3 (55 dollars) • Week 8 (40 dollars) • Goes to: • National Headquarters: Initiate Certificate and Pin (62.75 dollars) • Initiate Banquet, FE Review Sessions, and Social Events (32.25 dollars)

  17. Initiation and Banquet • Initiation Ceremony on Saturday, April 20th, 2012 (Week 3 of Spring) • Banquet held at BJ’s Restaurant immediately after initiation

  18. Senior Stole • Come out to 3 extra events in addition to those required for initiation
