  1. TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY DO SOMEONE ELSE A GOOD TURN HOW GOOD DRIVERS DEAL WITH INTERSECTIONS

  2. WHO HAS THE THE RIGHT OF WAY? The driver approaching the intersection yields the right-of-way to the vehicle which has already entered the intersection. If two vehicles arrive at an uncontrolled intersection at the same time, the driver on the left yields to the driver on his right. Drivers yield to pedestrians crossing at intersections or marked crosswalks. A driver in an intersection trying to turn left yields to vehicles approaching from opposite direction. A vehicle emerging from a driveway yields to vehicles on the street and pedestrians on the sidewalk. When entering from an alley, side street or driveway, the driver must come to a full stop before crossing the crosswalk or sidewalk. He must look, signal as necessary and wait for traffic to let him in. yield = gives way, slow down, allow to proceed first

  3. THREE DIFFERENT DRIVERSTHREE DIFFERENT ATTITUDESWHICH ONE ARE YOU? A : THE TIMID DRIVER Sees the intersection as a difficult, complex situation. Too many hazards to watch out for. Too many mistakes to be made. He is indecisive, annoys other drivers and interferes with the flow of traffic. What do you do when you see him?

  4. THREE DIFFERENT DRIVERSTHREE DIFFERENT ATTITUDESWHICH ONE ARE YOU? B : THE AGGRESSIVE DRIVER Sees the intersection as a territorial challenge. He jealously guards his space. He will not yield to other drivers or give anyone a break. If he misses a green light because another driver was slow, he gets angry. What do you do when you see him?

  5. THREE DIFFERENT DRIVERSTHREE DIFFERENT ATTITUDESIS THIS YOU? C : THE PROFESSIONAL / FRIENDLY DRIVER Is alert, cautious and decisive. He knows the dangers and potential hazards and is courteous to other drivers - no matter how they act. He always yields right of way to avoid an accident. Would other drivers think this is you?

  6. AVOIDING COLLISIONS AT INTERSECTIONS Technically, you have the right of way, but the other driver does not yield. What do you do? A Ignore him. Proceed as planned. He needs to learn the rules of the road. B Let him pass. There is no point risking a crash to prove a point. hopefully this is you BE A FRIENDLY DRIVER DO SOMEONE ELSE A GOOD TURN
