  4. Aims and Outcomes • By the end of this workshop we hope you leave with at least 1 new idea for actively starting or finishing a lesson. • To familiarise yourself with these ideas, you will be actively engaged in our workshop! • Have fun!

  5. Bingo! • AIM: to revise key vocabulary throughout a lesson • Used best during a revision lesson • Involves preparing bingo cards for pupils of key vocabulary that you know will be mentioned throughout lesson • When a pupil calls ‘bingo!’ they then have to define each word on their card before they can win.

  6. Dominos • AIM: is that everyone in the class is actively involved in the activity and that each member of the class asks and answers at least one question. • This activity can be used to revise a number of previous topics studied, in the middle of a topic to evaluate learning or at the end of a topic as part of revision.

  7. Instructions: Dominos • Each pupil is given a card, on the card is a question and an answer. • The person with the ‘start’ card reads out the question and the person that thinks they have the answer reads out their answer and then asks a question. This process continues until everyone in the class has asked and answered a question and you get to the person with the finish card, like the domino effect. • Good activity done under the pressure of a stopwatch. • http://www.online-stopwatch.com/full-screen-stopwatch/

  8. Relay Race • This is a fun and competitive way to end a lesson and have pupils revising key words and ideas without knowing it! • Divide class into two groups, give each a different coloured board pen. • Have the two groups line up in front of the board. • Each line takes it in turn to go to the board and write something about the topic in question – it can be anything they have remembered. Give the class two minutes to do this. • At the end of two minutes, the group with the most relevant words on the board wins! • Now – you turn!!
