  2. Focus On… Standards • Standards define end-of-year expectations and progression. • Professional Learning Communities (PLC) provide you with input from various person(s).

  3. Focus On… • Integrated Literacy • Students, who meet standards, develop skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening that are foundations for creative and purposeful expression.

  4. Focus On… • Great News • Teachers are able to be flexible when planning activities for teaching standards. • Teachers are able to utilize information they already have.

  5. Focus On… • Standards • The standards for the first unit are basically a pacing guide. These standards do not have to be taught in any given order. • These are year-end expectations.

  6. First Step Organization… • Personalize your binder. • Tab each area using the following headings: • Standards • Resources • Themes • Strategies 3. Add materials, activities, etc., to your binder as materials become available.
