  2. VRE System • Began service in 1992 • Serves 18 stations in 8 cities and counties • Connects to Metrorail in 5 locations • Operates on 89.6 miles of track • ~14,500 daily riders

Where Are We - Ridership • Ridership Increasing • Up 5.3% for first ten months of this year compared with same period last year • As performance improves, ridership grows • On-Time Performance • Dramatic improvement over the last year • Averaging about 85% and very stable • Partners In Performance – Amtrak/CSX/VRE task force to bring OTP to 90% system wide • Using drive time radio ads to increase ridership

  6. Where Are We - Equipment • New Cars – 25 of the 50 car option delivered • Will receive 5 per month through September • Purchase of locomotives approved • Will buy 2 with option for 18 more over 5 years • Anticipate all options will be exercised

Service Extensions • Gainesville/Haymarket – 11 miles • Ridership could as much as double on Manassas line with extension • Have funding for a feasibility study and limited funding for construction • Could take about 5 years once all funding is in place • Extension Service South into Spotsylvania • Need to have Spotsylvania join PRTC/VRE in order to provide service • Fredericksburg parking at capacity • Station near our Crossroads Yard would increase parking capacity
