  5. Action Plan for theimplementationoftheProtocolin 2012-2019 • Objective 1. Support the effective implementation of the ICZM Protocol at regional, national and local levels. • Objective 2. Strengthen the capacities of Contracting Parties to implement the Protocol and use in an effective manner ICZM policies, instruments, tools and processes. • Objective 3. Promote the ICZM Protocol and its implementation within the region, and promote it globally by developing synergies with relevant Conventions and Agreements.

Definitionof ICZM ICZM means a dynamicprocess for thesustainable management and use ofcoastalzones, takingintoaccount at the same time thefragilityofcoastalecosystemsandlandscapes, thediversityofactivitiesanduses, theirinteractions, themaritimeorientationofcertainactivitiesandusesandtheirimpact on both marine andlandparts.
