  2. Speaker • Computer speakers, ormultimedia speakers, are speakers external to a computer, thatdisablethelowerfidelitybuilt-in speaker. Theyoftenhave a low-powerinternalamplifier. Thestandard audio connectionis a 3.5 mm (approximately 1/8 inch) stereojackplugoften color-coded lime green (followingthePC 99standard) forcomputersoundcards. A plug and socket for a two-wire (signal and ground) coaxial cable thatiswidelyusedtoconnectanalog audio and video components. Rows of RCA sockets are foundonthe backs of stereoamplifier and numerous A/V products. Theprongis 1/8" thickby 5/16" long. A few use anRCA connectorfor input. There are alsoUSB speakers which are poweredfromthe 5 volts at 500 milliampsprovidedbythe USB port, allowingabout 2.5 watts of output power.
