  1. A piece of the Dream Because everyone deserves a college education…..

  2. The Plight: • After coming to America before the age of consent, most undocumented students get a crude dose of reality when they try to enter college. College, as we all know is very expensive and it can seem even more so when it is unlawful to find a job. We hear from every angle that a college education is the key to a successful future. Without a college education, and denied from a job at even the lowest paying employment facilities, the more unscrupulous methods of obtaining money is the only avenue left to most undocumented high school graduates. This is a big issue, all this group is seeking to do is to create an informational website for undocumented students moving on to college.

  3. The Law -New York currently offers in state Tuition to students who have attended High School in America for at least two Years. In most school, this is only applicable IF an I-94 form can be produced There is currently no opportunity for a student who came here before the age of consent to simply file for themselves.

  4. A solution: The Dream Act • The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act • is a piece of proposed federal legislation in the United States that would provide high achieving high school students who are long term illegal immigrants, and who wish to serve in the armed forces or attend college to be able to gain legal status.

  5. The DREAM Act • Has been proposed in Congress numerous times and has still not been passed.

  6. In the mean time • Undocumented students who wish to go to college have still struggle to • Pay Tuition • Find a job • File for any sort of financial aid • Find health Insurance • Simply survive We are fully in support of the dream acct but in the meantime something has to be done.

  7. So what do we do: • In America, one of the greatest countries in the world, this should not be the case. • People deserve a chance to make a way of life • Students shouldn’t have to think of getting married to simply be able to afford the basic necessities in life

  8. Our Solution • Information: Our solution is providing the information to students wanting to go to college. • It is not going to solve the overall problem but it goes a long way towards HOPE and enabling undocumented students for a FUTURE!

  9. Our Website: sisepuede.ning.com The website covers the main areas: Applying to College Tuition The tax ID and Other Legal Services Scholarships Activist groups Interning and Volunteering And more to come

  10. The website is designed to get the word out to High school students who wish to attend college. • The message we want to give is that it is possible! • It is possible to attend college, to participate in programs, to shine and to fulfill dreams. • Though at every turn it seems like almost everything is again undocumented students, we want this website to be a place of answers.

  11. We want to take this information to High School students and give them the information that most is afraid to give. • We plan to do this by taking the project directly to the High Schools, and to students who are already enrolled in colleges.
