  2. WHAT IS PROPANE AUTOGAS? • Autogas is: • LPG or propane when used as a vehicle fuel • The third most widely used vehicle fuel in the world with 17 million vehicles – making it the most popular alternative fuel worldwide • Over 200,000 autogas vehicles in US and rapidly growing • An alternative vehicle fuel that reduces harmful emissions, costs less than gasoline and is domestically produced

  3. DOMESTICALLY PRODUCED Around 90% of propane autogas is produced here in the U.S., reducing our dependence on foreign oil and increasing American energy security 3

  4. REDUCED EMISSIONS Source: Roush, 2009 Lincoln & 2008 E350 emissions compare LPG vs. GAS

  5. COST SAVINGS • Fleets save more than $1.25/gallon versus gasoline on fuel costs • Autogas fleets report reduced vehicle maintenance and extend engine life

  26. MOUNTAIN MOBILITY, NC Mountain Mobility, Public Transportation Fleet Sound Bite: “Mountain Mobility would absolutely convert other fleet vehicles to propane autogas.” She hopes to see state-level adoption and support of these systems among similar organizations throughout North Carolina. • Fleet Statistics • 10 Ford E-350’s • Annual mileage per vehicle: 71,428 • Onsite fueling from Alliance AutoGas • Time operating on autogas 10 months • Estimated annual savings: • $53,096 for ten vehicles

  27. MOUNTAIN MOBILITY, NC Making the switch to a propane autogas system was an easy decision for the Buncombe County Commissioners to make, after learning about the environmental benefits, fuel savings and lower-maintenance advantages of propane autogas. Lori Hembree, Director of Mountain Mobility

  28. RALEIGH Raleigh Police Department Fleet Sound Bite: RPD estimates they will reduce annual gasoline used by 30,000 to 36,000 gallons and save close to $30,000 in fuel costs. The department also expects reduced maintenance costs due to the high-octane rating of propane autogas. • Fleet Statistics • 10 Ford Crown Victorias • Anticipated annual gallon usage: 39,600 • Onsite fueling from Alliance AutoGas • Time operating on autogas 4 months • Estimated annual fuel cost savings: • $30,000 for ten vehicles

  29. RALEIGH Chief Harry Dolan, City of Raleigh Chief of Police

  30. IREDELL COUNTY Iredell County Sheriff’s Department Fleet Sound Bite: “We’re saving 40 to 50 percent on fuel costs. We like the fact that the cars are clean burning and efficient, and we like that they’re dual fuel” Captain Phillips • Fleet Statistics: • 26 Ford Crown Victorias • Anticipated annual gallon usage: 52,000 • 2 fueling stations from Alliance AutoGas • Time operating on autogas 9 months • Estimated annual savings: • Nearly $40,000 for 26 vehicles
