  1. John 17:1-5 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. (from New International Version)

  2. WWJD • What Would Jesus Do • Became a trend in the 1980s and 1990s • One of my favorite golfers wore it. • Payne Stewart • What about this phrase drew people to it? • It reminds us to do good and to always present our self as Godly men and women.

  3. The Next Step – WWJD • Why Would Jesus Do it? • Just What Would Jesus Do could lend to the rules. • Mathew 23:23 – 24 – The Pharisees would have loved WWJD because they where masters of doing the right thing. • Mathew 5:20 – Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees.

  4. Why Would Jesus Do it? • Why do we like the rules? • Easily measured • We know exactly where we stand • We can show them to other people • Mathew 23:5-7 • We also like to break them • Quickest way to get a teenage to do something is to tell them it’s against the rules.

  5. Why Would Jesus Do it? • So…. Why Would Jesus Do it? • John 8:27 – 30 – Jesus always did what pleased his father. • Mark 10:17 – 22 – Jesus loved people. Even to the point of calling them to places they were not willing to go.

  6. Why Would Jesus Do it? • Mark 12:29 – 31 – The greatest commandment. Jesus is calling us to the same commitment he had. • Love God with everything you have. • Love your neighbor as yourself.

  7. Why Would Jesus Do it? • The greatest reason was to bring us into a relationship with his father. • Ephesians 2:3 – 10 – He has made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions.

  8. Why Would Jesus Do it? • This is what Easter is all about. • We celebrate the resurrection of Christ. • More we should celebrate the resurrection of our soul. • And to celebrate one day with him as we shed our earthly bodies.

  9. What Will You Do? • Live to please God • Live to love people • And grab hold of Jesus • John 17:15 - 17
