  5. Coalition Goal • Implement priority IOM recommendations in Pennsylvania • Improve health care to Pennsylvania citizens • Take action through Regional Action Coalitions

  8. Goal To establish the infrastructure of the nine Regional Action Coalitions to facilitate achievement of targeted Coalition goals

Next Steps • Date, time and location of next meeting • Determine chair(s) of next meeting • Write agenda for next meeting • Brainstorm invitations to new participants (nurses and non-nurses) • Arrange for a summary of each meeting to be written, distributed and placed on the website • Review Coalition agenda and focus on strategies to meet IOM recommendations

Current Coalition Initiatives • Review of academic progression mechanisms in place for seamless advancement from diploma or associate degree programs to baccalaureate degree programs (and subsequently, to graduate education) • Collection of data on nursing workforce, including diversity of nursing workforce • Need to partner with Regional Action Coalitions to complete these initiatives

Guidelines • Communicate, communicate, communicate • Be as inclusive and participatory as you can • Network • Set achievable goals and aim for success • Be creative about meetings • Ensure diversity among members • Accept all ideas: There is no idea you can’t think! • Celebrate your successes
