  1. Factors that Make a Great Soccer Coach for Young Children Becoming a soccer coach for young children can be challenging at times. Soccer coach also falls into the category of teacher/mentor. The word ‘teacher’ carries a huge responsibility, whether you are teaching children or grown-ups. As a teacher, you should always be inspiring & enlightening the young minds. A soccer coach is also a teacher in the truest sense of the word, imparting education not from the books in the classroom but on the field. To become a good soccer coach, having an expert knowledge of the game is mandatory. But what are the other qualities that makes an outstanding soccer coach? Let us briefly look at some of the points: 1. Communicational Abilities: A soccer coach must have the power of communication like a pro. As the coach of young players in the age group of 2-9 years old, you must possess exceptional

  2. communication abilities to reach out to so many young souls, loudly & clearly. Moreover, you also need to converse with their parents, other staffs & officials as & when required. More you converse, more you let the child know about the coach’s interest in his/her welfare & the urge for learning also increases. 2. Expert Knowledge of Basic Skills: When you are teaching about soccer, make sure you specify the nitty-gritty of the game. But also remain cautious that you don’t overburden those little brains with extra information or else the children may lose their focus & interest in the game. You can also demonstrate the basic skills through separate fun games & examples so that it becomes easier for the young minds to grasp the subject. 3. Explanation of the Rules: this is the most important point to remembered after explaining about the game. Introduce the rules one by one at a steady pace. Do not rush through the rules at one go. There are some rules which can be taught in the first practice & there are some that can be imparted during the course of the game. Analyse the rules & explain it accordingly.
