  4. Who is the point of contact? • MP staff • Paid to have time to do it properly • Official and harder to ignore • Communications Chair • Easier to speak on background • President • May be best-known Liberal behind the scenes • May be too busy • Candidate/MP • Should not be speaking off the cuff

Who is the face? • Candidate/MP • The main person the public needs to know • President • May be best-known Liberal behind the scenes • Formally the spokesperson for the EDA • Communications Chair • Might be most professional communicator • Might not have authority to be the face • MP staff • They aren’t paid to be famous

  6. Who do you talk to? • Local Paper, local cable, Snap • Personal Relationships • Talk to your best friend • One point of contact • Don’t micro-manage • Letters to the editor

  7. How do you get published? • Invite media • Get the times right • Follow up • Confirm the best time • Take your own pictures • They might not show • Write your own articles • They will publish if they need filler • Paid Advertising
