  1. Football Assignment Sarah Jayyousi 8B

  2. Introduction • Football is one of the main sports. Football is two teams against the other. Using a ball to kick with. The ball is a round and a hard ball. Football has a goalie, a mid field and defense. Football can be rough sometimes to play.

  3. Where did football originate from? • The Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Ancient Greek, Persian, Viking, and many more played ball games, which involve using feet to kick. The Chinese started playing "football" games at around 300 years ago.

  4. Who made up the first organized set of rules for Football? Why did they do this? • The English in 19th century had created the first rules for the game of soccer . Ebenezer Cobb Morley he was the first to draw up the laws in the Laws of the Game. The laws were approved at a meeting of the Football Association (FA) on 8 December 1863. It was better after it has been organized.

  5. How many countries play football as their national sport? • There are about 60 nations and more that play football as their National sport. • South America. • South East Asia: Countries from Indonesia toThailand and Cambodia are not particularly strong in football, but it is watched and followed religiously in this part of the world). • Middle East: Countries like the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, and Oman and more. • African Nations: Almost all African nations excluding South Africa have football as their national game.

  6. Why do you think Football has become so popular around the world? (Describe 3 reasons and explain in detail why you think they were important). • First it’s so popular is because its cheap to play. You just need a ball and goal. For other games you need a lot of expensive equipment and special conditions. For example the American football need to spend money to buy all the gear like for example the body pads, helmets etc. In Tennis you need expensive rackets and in Volleyball you need a net and hard balls. • Second reason is that football is very social as in you can meet other people while playing and learn how to work with other people in the group. Not like Volleyball and badminton where people sit and wait until there turn comes. • Third reason is that the rules are so easy to play with.

  7. Do you think there are different ways of playing, or styles, of Football in different areas around the world? Explain youranswer using football terms. • Latin style confident with the ball, good dribblers with the ball. They keep the ball in ready stage in order to kick it. • Italian style is skillful and alert. They make forward runs at all angles, which is unnoticeable and difficult to have. Defenders prefer to slow the tempo down, shield and play slowly so other team members can keep up. • The British style is physical, quick, and straightforward. Attacks are set up with high speed and with few touches on the ball. Passes are unbroken, often sent over the enemy defense.
