  2. Where did football originate from? It came from China about 3000 years ago. It was in England (in 1863) that football actually started to take place and become a sport.

  3. Who made up the first set of rules for football? Why did they do this? Eleven London clubs and schools discussed what types of rules there should be in football. They made rules because they still wanted all the tricks involved but they didn’t want the game to be harsh.

  4. How many countries play football as a national sport? Over 60 countries play football as a national sport.

  5. Why do you think football has become so popular around the world? I think it is such a popular sport because it is on going. Football is played through the whole year no matter what type of weather it is (unless it is -30 degrees outside). Football is a challenging sport, and many people like challenges when they do a sport.

  6. Do you think there are different ways of playing football around the world? No, I don’t really think this, because the way football is played is worldwide. Unless there is American Football that is different that actually isn’t football. Attack, Middlefield, defense and goalie are the same all around the world and I don’t think anyone would change that. The rules are also the same worldwide, like no tackling or you get a yellow card and those types of things.

  7. American Football American football (which is known as football in the United States) is a game played with 2 teams and each have 11 players on them. The ball in this game is thrown around to other players. When someone has the ball they take it and run with it and try to get a touch down. A touch down is like the “goal” for American Football. There is sometimes a kicker, and if he gets it past the goal line of the other team that counts as a score for them. Any ways that the team gets into a goal line is counted as a score for the team that got it over the goal line.
