  1. Ratio – Mixed – Relay Race In this competitive activity students work in teams to answer questions provided on small pieces of paper. Students should check their answers with the teacher (who can be anywhere in the room with their answer sheet). If students are correct they can collect the next numbered sheet (easily placed in piles face-up on a desk at the front). If students are wrong they can skip the question or be given 1 or more chances.

  2. Printing To print handouts from slides - Select the slide from the left. Then click: File > Print > ‘Print Current Slide’ To print multiple slides - Click on a section title to highlight all those slides, or press ‘Ctrl’ at the same time as selecting slides to highlight more than one. Then click: File > Print > ‘Print Selection’ To print double-sided handouts - Highlight both slides before using ‘Print Selection’. Choose ‘Print on Both Sides’ and ‘Flip on Short Edge’.

Jo got $45 and Jane got $60. - Joe is 80cm tall. John is 1.4m tall. - Sam had £28 and Pam had £12 more than her. - Jo, Mo and Flo shared £200, Jo got £80 and Mo got £50. - Phil got twice what Bill got. Jill got three times what Phil got. 4 Jim and Tim robbed $350. They shared the money in the ratio 4:3 How much did they each get? - Anna and Hannah robbed $640. They shared the money in the ratio 7:9 How much did Hannah get? - Ben, Brian and Bob robbed $230. They shared the money in the ratio 5:2:3 How much did Brian get?

  5. 5 6 Don and Tom shared some sweets in the ratio 2:5 Don got 30 sweets. How many did Tom get? - Lilly and Milly shared some money in the ratio 4:3 Milly got £36. How much did Lilly get? - Jo, Flo and Mo shared some biscuits in the ratio 2:4:7 Jo got 8 biscuits. How many biscuits were there in total? Dolly and Molly stole $360. Molly got $120 more than Dolly. In what ratio did they share the money in? - Three people shared some fizzy drink in the ratio 3:7:5. The person who got the most, got 120ml more than the person who got the least. How much did the other two receive in total? 7 8 Together an elephant and a tiger weigh 540Kg. The elephant weighs 8 times what the tiger weighs. How much does the elephant weigh? - 5 penguins weigh the same as one polar bear. One polar bear and one penguin weigh 420Kg. How much does one penguin weigh? A rectangle has an area of 90cm2. The width and length are in the ratio 2:5. What is the perimeter of the rectangle? - At school, the ratio of girls to boys is 2:3. The ratio of children to teachers is 4:1. What is the ratio of boys to teachers?
