  31. The NetLesson Web Site NetLesson is online with a specific web site that integrates different functional modules to manage user and lectures data, online video lessons information, the synchronization of video and PowerPoint presentations, online e-learning courses catalogue and the calendar of the real time lessons.

  32. NetLesson Web Site Modules • Home page presentation of the project; • NetLesson manages synchronous/asynchronous lessons; • e-Learning manages asynchronous courses and their MDS; • Multimedia manages video repository (interviews, etc.); • News manages the news collection; • Newsletter manages the dissemination of news and brief articles by e-mail; • Services Network services for the end-users; • Project description of the Desire-Net project; • Calendar calendar of the internet synchronous lessons; • Contacts persons of the Desire-Net organization; • Users list of the end-users (organizations and countries).

  33. The NetLesson Calendar The calendar for the synchronous lessons has been determined considering the possibility to visualize inside a standard calendar the incoming video lessons. Users can visualize the video lessons calendar and choose a specific video lesson.

  34. NetLesson Modules NetLesson manages lesson, video, presentation in power-point format and the teacher information. The system visualizes the questions, inserted by the student, towards the teacher. For each lesson the system shows date, time, title of the lesson and the teacher’s name. In some case is possible to insert a short summary of the lesson contents. The NetLesson has a search function to find lesson by title and date or name of the lectures. The system lists the lessons ordered by date.

  35. The video lessons Management The NetLesson video lessons management has a specific methodology to organize the online streaming and recorded interviews. Each interview is part of a video session and each session is part of a video lesson. Video lesson Video Sessions Lecturers interviews

Windows 98/200x/XP/Vista, Free Real Player (www.real.com), Internet Explorer, FireFox. INTERNET: connection speed rate 56Kbps or superior (1,4 Mbps).

  42. The Desire-Net project DEvelopment and Sustainability with International Renewable Energies network, www.desire-net.enea.it E-Learning in Renewable Energies for managers, designers and operators in Central, East and South East European and South Mediterranean countries. 40 different university countries connected in asynchronous and synchronous mode to participate at the online video lessons. The project has guaranteed 100 hours of online course in 18 months.

  43. SEE2008 European Award The European Commission has assigned the prestigious Award SEE “Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign”, for the “Co-operation programs “ category, to the “Desire-Net” project, realized by ENEA in collaboration with UNESCO.

  44. NetLesson and the Virtual World-3D The video lessons in NetLesson are integrated inside the new 3D interface of Virtual World 3D (VW-3D). The lessons calendar, catalogue, video lessons and PowerPoint presentations can be displayed inside the VW-3D

  45. Conclusions The users (technical staff and end-users) have successfully used the system everyday with no problems after a mini training session. Internet connection today offers the possibility to disseminate high quality lectures very accessible system in terms of technology and costs. The future learning project will use this technology to create multi e-learning points because the teachers and the students are ready to participate to these type of online services. The users attention index during the video lessons is higher than HTML e-learning courses because the end-users are concentrated to watch the video screen. The users learning index is lower than the contiguous teaching but the system guarantees the possibility to repeat many times the same experience. To improve these results a tutor can be present in the classroom or connected online (Uteas, E-LEARN2007).
