  3. My Transportation Needs • I will use my vehicle driving around campus at college and driving back and forth from Iowa about six to eight times during the year. • Depending, if I come home from Iowa or not, the mileage will differ. If I come home I will drive about 1,500 miles a month, but if I do not I will drive less than 350 miles • I will want to features of all-wheel drive, anti-lock brake system, alarm system, a CD player.

  4. My Personal Budget • I will be a college student, working part time through the months of November to July. While I am at school I won’t be making as much money as when I am at home for summer break (estimate of $500/mo). • Personal expenses will include food and occasional shopping sprees  • Transportation expenses include gas and repairs.

My insurance will be $3400/year though GEICO. I will have the money from working and college funds that will not be used.

  6. Am I Ready to Own a Car? I believe I am ready to own a car for the following reasons: • I am responsible and by the time I am out for college I will have enough “real world” experience. • I will be a full time student who will be working • I will have saved enough money in 2 or 3 years to purchase a car that can safely drive me across the country. • I do not and will not have other expenses at this time to pay for, this will be my only bill along with insurance.

  7. Ways To Get Ready In order to prepare for purchasing my first car, I need to take the following steps: • Create a savings account • Find and save money from graduation and other areas that have accumulated over my childhood. • Work as much as possible
