  8. Arrhenius Acid DEFINITION: A substance whose water solution contains hydrogen ion H+ as the only positive ion in the solution HCl H+ + Cl-

  9. What is going on? Recall that a H atom has only one proton and one electron. Therefore…… H+is really just a proton
